Since 1837

Ebenezer's story is woven into the story of Hogansville itself.

The congregation began in 1837, more than three decades before Hogansville was incorporated. Nearly two centuries later, Ebenezer is still here — worshiping, serving, changing, and finding new ways to be a Stone of Help in the community.

The Early Years

The name “Ebenezer” came to Georgia with Presbyterian settlers whose roots included the Ebenezer community in South Carolina.

1837

A small group of Presbyterians formed a congregation in the Hogansville area. The first church was a log structure near what is now Myrtle Hill Cemetery.

1860

The original log church was replaced by a frame building as the congregation grew.

1869

Ebenezer purchased the East Main Street property for $100 and moved the church building to the site where Ebenezer stands today.
